Have you ever felt that going from office to office was like this?
We have - and believe me, we've tried all of the solutions:
Borrowing a PC - but even when your data is available over a network, the version of the software installed is never the right one.
Carrying laptops - which always seem too bulky, or expensive and you can never get a power point when you need it. Don’t even mention trying to log onto a network. Just too much trouble if you are just visiting.
Using PDAs - I love my PDA, but they are too small and fiddly for a lot of work and what if you want to print, or copy a file? Yet more “stuff” to carry which ruins the size saving.
Storing everything on collaborative web sites - we do this a lot and when we are relying on it, that’s the time that Internet access is unavailable.
A pocket full of floppies - and isn’t the one you need corrupted? Or the files you want to carry are too large? Cds or DVDs are read-only, so a USB Flash drive is the sensible option - so why not put your software on it too?
All you really want is to be able to use an ordinary PC in any office you work from, but with all the data you need and applications you are familiar with to get your job done. Now you have it all: carry your data, and the applications you use, in a way that fits in your pocket. You want an AppsDrive.
